Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

If you already own a website, or even if you don't, you're quite likely to have received spam (junk email) from companies claiming that they can get your site onto the top of Google and/or other search engines. Whilst some may be from legitimate companies with the required experience, we have seen examples of SEO companies making bold promises that cannot necessarily be kept, misleading their potential customers and providing virtually no real benefit.

It is certainly possible to achieve great positions in search results on Google and other search engines, including the top spot - it requires quality content, a well-constructed & well connected website (such as those we provide) and consistent promotional effort over a period of time.

There can be no guarantees though - certain markets are extremely competitive, with a great many companies competing for the top spots. Also, the search engines themselves decide how to rank sites, and they are constantly adjusting their techniques.

We try to be realistic about rankings. We construct websites with a keen eye on search engine optimisation to give your site the best possible shot at a high search ranking. However, to truly succeed, you will need to work at the promotion of your website and your business long term. With our extensive experience, we can guide you and help you promote your business on and offline.

Most of our websites enjoy high placements on Google for business type & location searches. Take a look at these examples [Links open in a new window]:

Google Analytics

When you set up a website, it is important to let people know where it is through various methods of promotion, such as leaflets, advertising in the press and social networking. However, just as important as letting people know that your website exists, is to find out if your site is actually being visited.

Back in the 1990s, it was very common to see a 'hit counter' on a website , proudly displayed on the bottom of the homepage (along with a twinking starfield background). This basically measured the number of times a site had been seen - it could have been the same person over and over again - there was no way of telling. These days, we are able to gather a range of far more informative statistics.

To do this, we use Google Analytics, a behind-the-scenes web tool which collects visitor data from your website. By implementing Google Analytics, we can accurately measure how many unique visitors have found your website . You can see how long they stayed, which pages they looked at, which words they typed in to find you, where they came from and even which browser they used! What is more, Google Analytics produces excellent and easy-to-use graphs, so you can see at a glance what is happening on your website:

We can provide you with an annual report as part of our service, or by request, run off regular reports to show various statistics, such as numbers of visitors, keywords used to find your site etc, and print off graphs to visually demonstrate different sets of information. We can also suggest and implement ways to further improve performance based on your reports.

Alternatively, we can also offer you a Google Analytics session, so you can familiarise yourself with the way Google Analytics works, and show you the fascinating information that can be collected from your website, and how you can make use of it. Pleae contact us to arrange an appointment.
